Stig of the dump Part one

Land creating

As part of our land study we have been designing and making our own land, with different landforms.  We used cardboard, chicken wire, paper mache, paint and some natural materials.  We are aiming to finish them off this week.  Here are some pictures of the process.

This morning we filled up a plastic bag with water.  We stuck spiky sticks and pencils all the way through, and we managed put 13 through without any holes and water coming out!!
We think it works because the pencil blocks the water coming out, and the air in the bag helps hold it in somehow.
You should try it at home!!

Animal group: Stop the 77

Vikki from You and your dog: http://www.youandyourdog.co.nz  came and talked to us about dog safety today. How you can tell if a dog is happy or tense, and some things they like and don't like.
She also taught us about a Nelson organisation called the Ark which matches rescue dogs with
young people to make a difference.  Find our more here: http://thenelsonark.co.nz
It was great- Thanks so much Vikki!!
